1933/1934, Emerson Radio and Phonograph Corporation, NY, NY. Serial no. 383985. Molded pressed wood composite, with four panels, front, sides and top, depicting Mickey playing a different instrument. The Emerson ‘Model 411 Novelty Radio’ was manufactured and distributed by Emerson under an exclusive licensing agreement with the Walt Disney Company, signed prior to October of 1933. The model 411, as offered here, was one of three Mickey Mouse themed radios introduced by Emerson in 1934. It was described by Emerson as ‘walnut with carved “Mickey Mouse” characters’. However, the panels of the 411 were not carved as advertised; but rather manufactured using a pressed wood composite called “Syroco Wood”. The cost in 1934 of the offered radio was $14.95. Height 7¾”. Width 7¼”. Depth 5¼”.
