March Avery (New York/France, b. 1932) ink and pencil modernist drawing depicting two kneeling nudes. Pencil signed and dated "March Avery, 92" lower left. Housed in a simple modern wood frame. Sight - 10 1/2" H x 13 3/4" W. Framed - 17 1/2" H x 20 5/8" W. Biography (courtesy Vallarino Fine Art): March Avery was born in 1932 and grew up in Greenwich Village. She is the daughter of famous American artist Milton Avery and illustrator Sally Michel Avery. Artists such as Mark Rothko, Adolf Gottlieb, Barnett Newman, and Marsden Hartley were frequent visitors to the Avery household. Though she did not study art formally, she has said that ìI knew no one but artists, so I knew that is all I would ever be".
