Description
A very rare set of two matching 19th c. American Aesthetic Movement Japonesque Coffee and Tea Pots by Meriden. Each with Four Full Geisha Maiden Head Legs,. Heavily chased and engraved with pheasants, lily pads, prunus. The pair are in good condition and display nicely. The Coffee Pot is 11" tall and the Tea Pot 10.25". A perfect example of Aesthetic Movement Silverplate. Weight 5 pds. Organized in 1852 by Horace C. and Dennis C. Wilcox. Meriden Britannia Company officers were among the leaders in the formation of the International Silver Company in 1898. In 1898 Meriden Britannia Company ceased to exist as an independent entity and became part of International Silver Company. PROVENANCE: A Private Charleston SC Estate.
