1ST EDITION TITLE: The Poetical Works of John Keats – With a Memoir by the Right Hon. Lord Houghton AUTHOR: 120 wood block illustrations by George Scharf, JUN., F.S.A., F.R.S.L PUBLISHER: London: Edward Moxon & Co., 1866. NOTES: Leather binding, impressed and gilded decorative borders on front and back cover, spine with raised bands and impressed and gilded lettering and decoration, impressed top edge and impressed and gilded turn-in marbled paste-down, endpapers and fore-edge, 8”h x 5.5”w x 1.25”d. The end papers contain a dedication which includes the inscription written by General Sir Vincent Eyre which is placed on a medallion by the poet’s tomb, the full dedication reads, “To Mrs. H. H. Dennison from O.E. (illegible), London June 1882 K-eats! if thy cherished name be "writ in water" E-ach drop has fallen from some mourner's cheek; A-ssured tribute; such as heroes seek, T-hough oft in vain - for dazzling deeds of slaughter S-leep on! Not honoured less for Epitaph so meek! Rome March 1882.
