SHENANDOAH VALLEY OF VIRGINIA EMBROIDERED QUILT TOP, made from silks and satins, bright polychrome embroidery threads, one section stitched with metallic threads, embroidery designs include numerous owls, flowers, other birds, initials "JCW" and MDM", one section made from an old vest with pockets and embroidered "My Father" over top. Late 19th/early 20th century. 69 1/2" x 79".
Very good condition overall with one panel having losses to silks possibly from painted decoration on surface, and several panels with some separations, cotton backing with some small stains.
Provenance: Collected from the Holsinger estate, Page Co., VA.
