AMERICAN / EUROPEAN LINEN PLAIN-WEAVE HAND TOWEL / SHOW TOWEL OR TABLE RUNNER, with cotton cross-stitch and straight-stitch embroidery, self fringe, rectangular, bleached linen and with black and red embroidery, hemmed left edge, selvage right side, with 14" of macrame self-fringe to the top and bottom edges; the top center device, flowering plants on bases, eight-pointed stars, and the "OEHBDDE" symbol (without lettering) is upside down. Likely Pennsylvania. 19th century. 75 1/4" x 15 1/4" OA.
Very good condition overall with one small hole and several scattered stains.
Provenance: From the Allentown Art Museum to benefit future acquisitions for the Museum's textile collection.
