Intensely texturized/embellished, almost looks 3-D. It is almost indistinguishable from the original oil (except for the number). The original edition was done in 2000 as a 25.5x34. This is part of the 2010 Five Carat Diamond Collection, a special edition for an Art Connoisseur Cruise Ship. The texturized state of the art process is a proprietary technology called \"Genesis\" based on many years of research in collaboration with scientists from the 3M corporation. An impression is made from an original oil (with a palette knife texture),which is then superimposed on a high-resolution giclee on canvas. The resultant product is an exact replica of the original oil. The final piece is then heavily embellished, numbered and signed. He grew up near Washington D.C. and began drawing at age seventeen after being confined to bed following a sledding accident. His formal education in art was at the University of Maryland, College Park, where he earned a Masters degree in painting and sculpture.From 1964 to 1981, Behrens worked for the United States Government Printing Office, serving as Chief Artist for ten years. During the 17 years he worked for the government, he devoted his free time to painting. Weekends, nights, vacation days, if he wasn\'t painting, he was traveling extensively. From the sun-drenched coastal areas of the United States to the lush, tropical areas of the Caribbean, Hawaii, and Mexico, to the seductive warmth of the Italian Riviera, southern France and the Mediterranean, Behrens finds his inspiration in the beauty of the places he travels.
