Description
Harriet Frishmuth (American; 1880-1980) Rare Original Signed Pastel Drawing of a Nude Woman Professionally Matted & Framed - This magnificent piece is an original pastel drawing done by world renowned sculptor Harriet Frishmuth. The subject of the drawing is a nude woman, as was the subject for many of her iconic sculptures. This is a stunning investment piece, as Frishmuth's sculptures sell for hundreds of thousands, and this rare drawing is unlike any of her other works that have been offered at auction. The drawing is signed by the artist in the lower right corner, and has been professionally matted and framed. The piece (including the frame) measures approx. 26" x 19", and is in excellent condition. Harriet Whitney Frishmuth was a sculptor best known for her exuberant embodiments of the youthful female form. A student of such renowned artists as Auguste Rodin and Gutzon Borglum, Frishmuth's reputation and career grew steadily throughout the first several decades of the twentieth century, with exhibitions at the National Academy of Design, the Academy of Fine Arts in Philadelphia, the Salon in Paris, the Golden Gate International Exposition (1939-1940) and the National Association of Women Painters and Sculptors. Her works can now be seen in some of the world's leading museums and collections, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, the Dallas Museum of Art, and Ohio University's Kennedy Museum of Art.
