Marc Chagall (French/Russian; 1887-1985) "Burning Bush" (From the "Story of Exodus" Portfolio) Limited Edition Photomechanical Graphic Numbered 445/500 Professionally Framed W/COA - This piece is titled "Burning Bush" and is a limited edition photomechanical graphic by Marc Chagall. The piece is from "The Story of Exodus" series, and depicts the Bible narrative in which Moses was appointed by Adonai (God) to lead the Israelites out of Egypt and into Canaan. In the story, God calls out to Moses from the bush. The piece has been professionally matted and framed, and will come with a certificate of authenticity. The piece is numbered 445/500 in pencil in the lower left corner. The piece (including the frame) measures 29" x 23". Marc Chagall was an early modernist artist, associated with several major artistic styles. He created works in virtually every artistic format, including painting, book illustrations, stained glass, stage sets, ceramic, tapestries and fine art prints. He was known as both a pioneer of modernism and as a major Jewish artist. Chagall's work is housed in a variety of locations, including the 'Palais Garnier' (the Opera de Paris), the Art Institute of Chicago, Chase Tower Plaza of downtown Chicago, the Metropolitan Opera, the Metz Cathedral, Notre-Dame de Reims, the Fraumünster abbey in Zürich, Switzerland, the Church of St. Stephan in Mainz, Germany and the Biblical Message museum in Nice, France, which Chagall helped to design.
