This beautiful sterling oval bread tray is in the pattern Francis I by Reed & Barton and is in very good estate condition. This is the perfect compliment to your table a very useful bread tray. It could also be used for vegetables. It measures 11 ¾" in length, 7 ¼" in width, 1 1/8" in height. It weighs approx. 13.7 troy ounces. There is no monogram. The bottom is marked with Reed & Barton Sterling X568 Francis I and a date mark of a candle for 1955.
Reed & Barton is a prominent American silversmith manufacturer based in Massachussetts, operating between 1824 and 2015. Its specialties include sterling silver and silverplate flatware. Rooted in American history, the firm produced a considerable amount of weapons for Union Army soldiers during the Civil War.
