19C. American Miniature Model of Providence Ship

Item Details

Description

UNITED STATES, 19TH CENTURY An American folk art miniature model of the "Providence" sailing ship. The model was intricately constructed with five masts individually strung with hide sails. Notice the rope ladders sewn within the rigging. The deck of the boat is detailed with four cabins, life boats, cleats, and a ships wheel. The hull of the ship is painted black and green and titled "PROVIDENCE" on each side of the bow and "Providence of Providence" on the stern. The boat is housed in a mirrored shadow box.

Condition

Overall very good condition, not inspected out of shadow box.
