Description
An elegant tea cup from St Petersburg, marked as 916 Silver, with Maker's mark K.K. The markings on both the base of the cup and the saucer show the star with hammer and sickle symbol, which began to be used in Soviet Russia in 1958. The saucer has a diameter of 4 inches and the cup is 2 3/4 inches, with a height of 2 inches. The floral design on the cup and plate is black and white, against a ruby red background. The technique of cloisonnƩ is an ancient one, which consists of adding and soldering layers of enamels or inlays of different colors. The enamel work on this tea cup is excellent and well as the gilt gold finish. This cup is in perfect condition.
