COBHAM ALAN: (1894-1973) English Pioneer Aviator, a specialist in long distance flights. A large 4to printed menu for a Banquet in honour of Alan Cobham in recognition of his successful flights from England to Capetown and Australia and back, given by the Aeronautical Chamber of Commerce of America Inc., at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York, 29th November 1926, signed by Cobham in dark fountain pen ink with his name alone to a clear area at the head of the menu and further signed by seven other individuals including William P. MacCracken Jr. (1888-1969, American Pioneer Aviator), Frederick Trubee Davison (1896-1974, American Aviator of World War I), Will H. Hays (1879-1954, American Politician) and Mario de Bernardi (1893-1959, Italian Fighter Pilot of World War I, Test Pilot and Seaplane Air Racer of the 1920s) etc. Together with an attractive unsigned 4to printed page (possibly a loose insert originally presented with the menu) honoring Major Mario de Bernardi as Holder of the World's Seaplane Speed Record and achievements with the Italian Schneider Trophy Racing Team and featuring his portrait. Some light overall age wear and some staining, only very slightly affecting some of the signatures. G, 2
