Yuan Dynasty, finely potted in Chinese traditional YuHuChun shape vessel, 'the pear shaped' bottle vase, a bottom-heavy body tapered gracefully to slender waisted neck flaring at the rim, supported on short spreading foot ring. Painted in various tones and shades of cobalt-blue with dragon interspersed by flames. A blue fine ring banded under the rim, bordered with wavy cresting water ribbon above tropical leaves and geometrical floral motif on base. The glaze stopping before the foot rim, revealed the orange-creme ground, with dark-grayish firing marks. A characteristic ‘heaped and piled effect’, the underglaze cobalt blue concentrates in certain areas, bubbling through the surface of the glaze and turning a deep blue-black. This inadvertently gave texture, energy and shading to the design. The receded central under base remain white underglaze with firing flaw mark. The pear vase elegantly presented upon a carved hardwood stand. The immaculate porcelain body covered with a characteristic silky glaze, pooling on the base slightly veiling the mark.
