Rolex Vintage SS Oyster Perpetual Air King 5500 (Production Year 1948-1954) *WORKING* - This watch is made of stainless steel, and has a chrome dial. The dial is in excellent condition. The watch has the original, stainless steel band with Rolex single-fold deployant clasp, which is in great condition. The piece is in working condition, and keeps accurate time. The serial number on the top of the case is: 068468, according to Bob's Watches serial number lookup website, this watch dates from 1948-1954. Case measures 43mm wide. Near the end of WWII the creator of Rolex, Hans Wilsdorf, was so moved by the heroic efforts of the British RAF pilots that he decided to honor them by introducing a special "Air" series of watches that included the Rolex Air Lion, Rolex Air Tiger, Rolex Air Giant and the Rolex Air King. The Air King watch debuted in 1945 and has been celebrated for over 70 years, being worn by the likes of Arizona Senator John McCain, Actress Jennifer Aniston and world-class tennis player Jim Courier, just to name a few.
