Description
William S. Burton, London Porcelain Face, French movement, missing glass and pendulum, not working c. 1865-1885. The french clock wad imported for sale by Willim S. Burton at 39 Oxford Street, London, he simply added a porcelain face with his name. He basically sold everything needed for ones home from sterling, to beds, to clocks, to baths, he was one of the first one stop Londo shops encompassing over 20 showrooms. The large gilded clock features a well dressed artist, his box of paints open at his feet, a palette and has a handpainted portrait medallion as well as two floral painted medallions on the base. Key is included. Measures 14"x15"x11". Weight is 8 pds. PROVENANCE: A Charleston SC Private Estate.
