Description
This lot consists of a large portrait of a woman dressed in lace. Depicted in the portrait is a woman who looks straight onto the viewer with her body at a three quarter view. She sits with elegant posture and dressed in all lace. Because of the black lace and minimal white lacing that appears around her neckline, she could be in mourning, as was appropriate for a woman of her stature. Not only does she have white lace around her neckline, she also wears a pearl brooch at the center, to match her pearl drop earrings. On the verso there is a piece of paper in plastic noting that the sitter is possibly Mrs. Ephraim Banks of Bailey, Banks, and Biddle. The painting is framed in a minimalistic wooden gilt colored frame. Overall the painting and frame are in good condition with minor wear depicted. Along the edges of the canvas, there are areas that are deficient of paint along with a spot just above the sitter's head.Condition: (Good - Very Good).Dimensions: Framed: 30-1/2" x 35-1/2".
