Description
A GROUP OF FOUR PERSIAN PAINTINGS AND ILLUMINATED MANUSCRIPTS, 19TH CENTURY. Including a fine watercolor rendering of a seated man beneath two maidens, inscribed lower right (signed in Arabic), 12.5 x 9 inches (32 x 23 cm). Also a very finely painted miniature scene of riders trying to coax a camel, 5 x 7.25 inches (12.5 x 18.5 cm). As well as two illuminated manuscript sheets, one depicting a battle scene with horse mounted soldiers and the other depicting a falcon hunting scene. The borders and versos inscribed in Arabic and each artist signed in the lower left corner. The image size 9.75 x 7 inches (24.5 x 18 cm), contained in matching glazed frames, overall size 18.5 x 12.5 inches (47 x 31.5 cm).

From the estate of noted Middle Eastern specialist and professor emeritus at Columbia University, New York, Dr. J. C. Hurewitz (1914-2008).
