Item Details
Description
A set of five (only one shown) early to mid 20th century Italian majolica dinner plate with scalloped edges made by Fratelli Fanciullacci. The plate is painted in the Raffaellesco manner of the Italian Renaissance.Demetrio’s father, Rafaello Fanciullacci, established the Brothers Fanciullacci ceramica factory on the island of Capraia in 1862. In the late 19th century they decided to move their factory to Monetelupo, Italy near Florence. Montelupa was centrally located with railway access, which provided a means for the factory to get their wares to vital markets. They became highly successful and by 1914 had over a 1,000 artistic molds for a wide variety of appealing products. Their wares were popular with Italian and American markets as they kept abreast of changing styles as well as adhering to the ever-constant appeal of historical Italian Renaissance patterns. By 1966, the factory had greatly diminished their output and ceased to make any products after 1988. Size: 10” Diameter
Condition
The plates are in very good condition with a few minor glaze chips to the edges.
