Description
Death Line (1972), highly controversial Vic Fair prototype artwork for the Quad film poster. Filmed on the London Underground, the macabre Death Line imagery proved too much for London Transport (one of the single largest users of Quad posters) & thus Fair was forced to re-design the poster. All artwork painted on paper & card & applied to board, sold with provenance, 22 x 31 inchesThis lot is from the archive of the artist Vic Fair. Fair was one of the leading British film poster illustrators of the 20th century & considered by many to be a design genius, many of his concepts being illustrated by other artists. Fair is one of the few commercial poster artists to have work in the collection of the Victoria & Albert Museum.
