AN AUBUSSON STYLE VERDRURE WOOL AND SILK TAPESTRY, 17TH/18TH CENTURY, PROBABLY FRANCE, a lush atmospheric landscape scene, the foreground centering a milk thistle plant surrounded by various birds, recessing to a monastery set within a mountainous background, within a foliate scroll and Ionic capital boarder, with a linen mounted back. Height: 91" Width: 88 1/4"
Condition
Possible later stabilizing/restoration, with some mild tears in the top half, and an even consistent fading of the pigment, and a slight toned appearance. The back with some evidence of exposure to moisture, but otherwise in very good condition, wear commensurate with age and use.
