(4to) 31x21 cm (12x8¼") quarter brown morocco and decorative beige boards, spine lettered in gilt, housed in brown cloth drop-back box with paper spine label. No. 125 of 165 copies, all on Twinrocker handmade rag paper; hand-bound by Klaus- Ullrich Rotzscher; printed by Robert Townsend and Kate Hanlon; printed letterpress and designed at the Arif Press by Wesley B. Tanner.
Signed by the author and artist in the colophon. Includes prospectus booklet. A collaborative effort of artists and printers revealing the National Book Award-winner, Lewis Thomas' themes of symbiosis in life on Earth, etc. The etchings incorporate a variety of graphic techniques, including aquatint, spitbite, drypoint, and hard and soft ground methods. They were proofed by Kay Bradner at Katherine Lincoln Press.
