Description
Attributed to Neel Reid (American, 1885-1926), circa 1921-22. A French Louis XV style carved mahogany armchair, having a carved crest rail over a silk damask upholstered back and seat, with scrolled handholds, a rocaille accented seat rail, and incurvate legs terminating in cuffed feet. Apparently unmarked. Approximate height 41.5", width 27.5", seat depth 21.5", seat to floor 17". Note: This piece was purportedly made by Atlanta classical architect J. Neel Reid for the Willis B. Jones residence, of his design and originally located on Peachtree Street, later moved to its current location on West Paces Ferry Road.
