Description
Hand Woven Mashad Directional Rug. Combination of natural and chemical dyes. Iran, c. 1920's. 105-1/2” X 140-1/4” (approx.) (8' 9-1/2" X 11' 8-1/4"). Directional rug is predominately red in color, features center image of trees and foliage in a ranges of red, green, and neutral tones, surrounded by multiple borders of floral motifs. The underside had been bleached and hand painted with burgundy ink, and the top center of the rug has an inscription in Farsi reading: "Commissioned by Kuzian".
Condition
Good Condition; rug is worn, displays overall wear and has minor losses to ends. The rug foundation looks stable, and has a good bend without stiffness.
