Vintage 1950's Mechanical Wind-up #J-4640 ANDROCLES LION Figure in Original Box, Made by LineMar, Japan. When wound, this adorable fur-covered lion vibrates, moves his head up and down towards his paw (that depicts pulling out a thorn or splinter that is stuck in his paw, and tail wags. The box cover tells the story of Androcles and the lion. "A roman of the 1st century A.D. said to have been spared in the arena by a lion from whose foot he had extracted a thorn years before in Africa. He stands 5-1/2" tall and is in excellent condition in the original box and in perfect running order. Some of the fur at the end of his tail is missing. The box has some wear and has spots that have been taped back together from the inside of the box cover.
