Item Details

Description

Louis XIV Neoclassical revival urn in dore bronze and polished bronze. Rocaille feet support a circular plinth base festooned with an acanthus band supporting four putti and representation of the 7 liberal arts in various states of play. A stylized column rises between them to support an urn vessel or gueridon adorned with bas-relief cartouches, masks, and elaborate foliate detail. French, circa 1870. 19.25" tall and 10" wide. Its hole in the top measures 6.75" deep and 4" in diameter.
