Description
Unframed Watercolor Gothic Courtyard attributed to Samuel Prout (1783-1842). Unsigned. Samuel Prout (1783 – 1852) was one of the masters of British watercolor architectural painting. Prout secured the position of Painter in Water-Colors in Ordinary to King George IV in 1829 and afterwards to Queen Victoria. Prout is often compared to his contemporaries; Turner, Gainsborough, Constable and Ruskin, whom he taught. Wear to edges, foxing. 12.50x9.25. Weight 4 oz.
