19c Chinese scholar burlwood Dragon belt buckle. 19th century Chinese scholar’s burlwood belt buckle with a dragon head finial looking at her cub crawling over her belly. Could have been used as a brush rest. Nice quality carving, wonderful rhythm to the movement of the cub’s body. Wood with subtle play of shades of brown, great wear and patina, very pleasant feel of age. Length 4 1/16 inches. Pre 1900
