Description
Regina Style 14a Coin-Op 15 1/2" Disc Music Box on Disc Storage Cabinet. Manufactured by The Regina Music Box Company, Rahway, New Jersey, Serial #14142, circa 1896 plays 156 teeth in pairs on duplex combs on cast iron bedplate, in mahogany case with applied rope moulding with stepped flat panel lid with lithograph, on twin door mahogany finish disc storage cabinet on bracket feet, interior cover with lock provides access to the coin box, with ten discs.
Disc storage cabinets are rarer than the music boxes they support due to the premium charged. The retail price of this base cabinet was on the order of $30, almost half the price of the music box when an ordinary table could be had for $3. That being said, the open space design of this cabinet style helps project the sound from the bottom of the music box. Also, the sixteen wooden partitions are particularly helpful for a larger disc library.
Dimensions: 23" x 21" x 44" H
