She had a series of Top 10 hits and TV shows in the 70's and 80's that helped her become one of country music's most successful female vocalists of that period. She was the first performer to win the Country Music Association's "Entertainer of the Year" award twice, and remained te only female to have done so until Taylor Swift equaled her. She also won the Association's "Female Vocalist of the Year" twice, in 1979 amd 1981. Mandrell is a member of the Grand Ole Opry, and was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2009.
