1943 "Roy Acuff and his Smoky Mountain Songs" Uncirculated Special WSM Edition From Acuff-Rose Publications - This lot is an uncirculated, music book titled "Roy Acuff and his Smoky Mountain Songs." The book is a Special WSM Edition, and was published in 1943 by Roy Acuff's company, Acuff-Rose Publications. The book contains 20 songs and various photos of Acuff. The book measures 5.75" x 7.75" and is in excellent condition. Roy Acuff (1903-1992) was an American country music singer, fiddler, and promoter, known as the "King of Country Music." Acuff began his music career in 1930's as the singer and fiddler for his group, the Smoky Mountain Boys. He joined the Grand Ole Opry in 1938, and remained one of it's key figures and promoters for nearly four decades. Acuff co-founded Acuff-Rose Music, the first major Nashville-based country music publishing company, which signed acts such as Hank Williams and Roy Orbison. Acuff was the first living inductee into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1962.
