Description

PRESSED HEXAGONAL PAIR OF CANDLESTICKS, bright canary yellow, master size, each urn-form socket with a bladed-knop extension, raised on a tapered standard with lower knop and double-step base, wiped wafer construction. Boston & Sandwich Glass Co. 1840-1860. 9 3/4" H, 5" DOA base.
Excellent condition, one with a shallow chip to one base point, other with several minor flakes to base. Each with some typical manufacturing imperfections, e.g. an open bubble on a point of one standard, underfill to top of each base, etc., all as made.
Literature: Parallels Barlow/Kaiser - The Glass Industry in Sandwich, Vol. 5, p. 127, fig. 5264a.
Provenance: The Joan E. Kaiser Collection of Sandwich and related glass (Acc. #87.8).

Condition

Excellent condition, one with a shallow chip to one base point, other with several minor flakes to base. Each with some typical manufacturing imperfections, e.g. an open bubble on a point of one standard, underfill to top of each base, etc., all as made.
