Description
GEORGES MELIES
(1861 – 1938) French film director, best known for early films such as “A Trip to the Moon”, and “The Impossible Voyage.” Original pencil sketch, approx. 2 1/2" dia., executed on the verso of a page of German text and cut out around the image, depicting the famous scene in the film “A Trip to the Moon” where the spaceship strikes the eye of the man in the moon. Signed in black ink on the verso of the sketch, adding “EXTRAORDINAIRE!!” underneath. Included is a photocopy of a full sketch of the scene, for reference. Very good to fine.
