ROBERT T. MCCALL ORIGINAL SPACE ART
(1919-2010) American conceptual artist, known particularly for his works of space art. McCall contributed murals to the National Air and Space Museum and the Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center, as well as designing the mission patches for the Apollo 17 moon mission. Original illustration in pencil and water color on a first day cover honoring McCall's work at the Johnson Space Center, 9 1/2" x 4", depicting a desert landscape with the moon, planets, and a large galaxy overhead. McCall signs in pencil at the lower right of his illustration. Also affixed to the first day cover are a complete set of six postage stamps, also featuring McCall's artwork. Mounted and framed, very good.
