Carte de visite photograph of Sgt. Amos Humiston of the 154th N.Y. Vols showing him in a bust portrait. Disfigured, Humiston was discovered KIA on the first day of Gettysburg clutching a photograph of his three children. He was buried in a mass grave at the battlefield. The identification of the children was made, and Humiston's image was used to raise funds to support war orphans. Backstamp by F. Gutekunst, with description.
