WILLIAM IRVINE
(1741 - 1804) Irish-American physician, soldier, and statesman, represented Pennsylvania in the Continental Congress, and convinced Col. William Crawford to lead the ill-fated expedition against Indians along the Sandusky River, which ended in Crawford's brutal execution. A.D.S. 1p. 12mo., Philadelphia, Feb. 20, 1804, a partly-printed check engrossed and signed by Irvine making a $25.00 payment to "John Wilmer". Toned at one corner, else very good.
