ORNAMENTED TURKISH FLINTLOCK PISTOL
Lavishly decorated Turkish or Caucasian flintlock pistol, 8 1/2" barrel, 13" overall, fully stocked in dark wood, with a separate wooden bulb finishing the grip. The stock bears an elaborate inlaid decoration of silver wire, minute brass roundels, mother of pearl, and green-dyed bone overall, forming floral and geometric patterns. The top of the breech bears a complex chiseled decoration depicting poppies in relief, filled with a mercury gold wash. The gold wash continues of the frizzen pan, and the lockplate is marked "Wilson", a common English maker of trade locks. The rudimentary sights consist of a shallow groove in the barrel tang, and a silver bead welded to the top of the muzzle. The silver wire inlay is loose in areas, with some slight chipping to the mother of pearl and bone inlays, and the hammer will only go to half-cock, else very good.
