Black ink with gouache and ink wash on light brown paper, untitled abstract, attributed* to Jackson Pollock (1912-1956). Signed. 9 x 8 3/4 inches. Very good overall condition, having no visible damage or repairs. Unframed for inspection and post-auction shipping.
Provenance: Ralph Riley, Beverley Hills, CA (possibly acquired from Lee Krasner, the artist's widow). Acquired by the former owner's father from Mr. Riley, circa 1970-80. Ralph Riley was a prominent collector and dealer of antiques and fine art, particularly modern and contemporary works. [See Pierre Berge & Associes, Paris, June 25, 2014, Lot 6, for a work we sold in July 2013 from the Ralph Riley collection. The work, a black and white ink drawing ascribed to Franz Kline, was subsequently sold to Marlborough Gallery and then at Pierre Berge for the sum of 50,000 Euros.]
