Description
Carved handle walking stick, presented as a gift to the 7th US President, Andrew Jackson (1767-1845) by Fath-Ali Shah Qajar, the 2nd Shah of Persia (1772-1834). Comes with family provenance including a letter from Andrew Jackson IV, dated Sept. 8th, 1928. Andrew Jackson IV (1887-1953) was a keeper of the Jacksonian flame and wrote an article in the Jan. 1923 edition of The Historical Outlook, Vol. XIV, No. 1 about his ancestor. Also includes several period engraved portraits of Jackson. Another Jackson presentation (given by him as many were) walking stick was appraised on The Antiques Road Show (JUNE 29, 2013) at $3000.00 to $5000.00. That one however was given by him, not to him.
