Description
A Thracian bronze seated horseman, c. 2nd - 1st Century BC, with shoulder length hair and beard, he wears a belted coat and boots; both his arms extended. The figure originally sat atop a horse, made of bronze itself, and is nicely patinated. H: 2 1/5 in (5.6cm). Ex estate of Seward Kennedy, New York. Mr. Kennedy worked for decades as a lawyer for the Mobil Corporation, and acquired his collection throughout decades of travel beginning in the 1950's.
