Pair of French Brass and Champleve Cobalt Baluster Porcelain Vases, late 19th c., with gilt decoration and reserves of lovers in gardens, signed Geo. Roche, on one side and landscape reserves on the other, on shaped green onyx bases with etched glass insets to hold flowers, H.- 14 1/2 in., Dia.- 4 in. Provenance: The Estate of Sidney J. Mazarat III, New Orleans, Louisiana.
Condition
Condition consistent with age and use. Internal V-shape crack, measuring approximately 1 ½ inch, across the corner of one onyx base. A flea-size loss to one painted tree. A ½ inch cluster of gilt spots on the blue ground. Six flea-size losses to one reserve of lovers. Several flea-size chips to the glass inserts. A charming pair.
