A Continental porcelain-handled parasol or umbrella. Retailed by S. Fox & Co. Limited, the cylindrical handle and bun terminal both well-painted with matching half-length bust portraits of a lady in lilac dress, reserved on a mazarin blue ground with raised gilt foliate scrollwork, the cane shaft with twin repousse gilt collars stamped A.C. 18CT G.P. and having ownership cartouches engraved 'L. B. Dowling Bristol' in cursive script, with black canopy (A/F), one stretcher marked 'PARAGON LOCK - S. FOX & CO. LIMITED', the handle 8.25, (21cm) long including collars, overall 35, (89cm).
