Description
A pair of 1940's silver napkin rings, of plain semi-circle form with ridged edges, hallmarked Henry Griffith & Sons Ltd., Birmingham 1948 & 1949. Together with a 1940's silver compact, of square engine-turned form with canted sides and monogrammed corner cartouche, opening to reveal a mirror and powder compartment, hallmarked Randle Brothers, Birmingham 1946, plus a small plated butter dish and cover modelled as an entree dish. Condition
In varied state, the lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. The napkin rings have no personal engravings with some heavier tarnishing to the interior and along edges. The compact shuts fully flush, heavier areas of tarnishing to the corners and edges, remnants of powder visible, monogrammed with the letters NY. The butter dish is stamped 'E.P ON COPPER MADE IN ENGLAND' to the base. Hallmarks clear and legible.
