Description
A George III silver coffee pot, of typical bulbous form with chased floral decoration throughout surrounding a crest, the hinged lid with beaded foliate finial and scroll capped wooden handle, the whole raised upon a circular engraved foot. Hallmarked L H (untraced), London 1765. Height inclusive of finial measures 11 1/8 inches (28.2 cm), weight 28.7 ozt (892.6 grams).
Condition
In good condition, the lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Some minor loss of definition to the decoration. Significant noticeable repairs to the top join of the handle with soft solder visible to the interior and exterior, probable supporting piece added above the outer join, the wooden handle looks to be a later replacement with a chip at the middle curve. Remnant of a sticker visible near the crest which depicts a lions head. Hallmarks clear and legible.
