**First Time At Auction**

Polynesia / New Zealand (Maori), ca. late 19th to 1st quarter 20th century CE carved bone fetish, sometimes called a pou. Dense marine mammal bone in the form of a standing warrior with fierce facial expressions and tattooing, wearing cape with incised decorations about his abdomen, ribs exposed on the reverse. A very interesting example! Size: 3.5" L x 4.5" W x 10" H (8.9 cm x 11.4 cm x 25.4 cm).
