WINSLOW ANDERSON PLYMOUTH POTTERY CERAMIC COVERED JARS, LOT OF TWO, one with overall yellow crackle glaze and one with polychrome panelled floral design and high shoulder. Both with impressed "PLYMOUTH POTTERY / SPARROW / HOUSE" on base, incised "Winslow", and one with additional note on base reading "One of first years works / made at Plymouth Pottery / Plymouth, Mass. / by: Winslow Anderson / circa / 1937-1938". Plymouth Pottery at Sparrow House, Plymouth, MA. 1937-1938. 7 1/4" and 7 1/2" H.
Flake on foot of one, otherwise undamaged. Two manufacturing hairlines on flange of one cover, mostly filled in with glaze.
Provenance: Winslow Anderson estate sold to benefit the Huntington Museum of Art.
Catalogue Note: Designer Winslow Anderson grew up in Plymouth, Massachusetts. He began working at Plymouth Pottery at 1937 and left in 1940 when he enrolled in the School of Ceramics at Alfred University.
