WILLIAM EDWARD CROXFORD (BRITISH, 1851-1926), ATTRIBUTED, CORNISH HARBOR SCENE PAINTING, watercolor on paper, depicting moored fishing vessels in the water bordering a coastal village, retains gallery label for Fletcher Copenhaver Fine Art, Fredericksburg, VA as well as information about the artist and scene attached verso. Matted and housed under glass in a modern frame. Late 19th/early 20th century. 4 7/8" x 6 7/8" sight, 14 7/8" x 16 5/8" OA.
Painting in excellent visual condition. Not examined out of frame.
Provenance: From the collection of the late Dorothy Claypool, Alexandria, VA.
Catalogue Note: William Edward Croxford was a British marine and landscape painter who is best known for his work in and around Cornwall, where he spent nearly forty years of his career. His paintings have been exhibited at the Royal Academy of Art, the Royal Society of British Artists, the Royal Institute, and the Walker Gallery in Liverpool.
