APPROX 45-65 YR OLD PERSIAN AFSHAR HAND KNOTTED WOOL BAG FACE, 2'2" X 2'11": This small gem is a bag face, that is the front of a utilitarian bag made to be used to hold things either in the home or on the back of an animal to transport goods. The lovely design of the bag face makes it rise above its usefulness to become a work of art. A brick red stepped medallion outlined in white rests on a black field. Smaller motifs are scattered in and around the medallion including diamond shapes and simple trees. The white ground main border frames the field. There is a flat weave border at one end.

Condition is good with one end that may be slightly reduced.
