Description
Ancient Near East, Holy Land, ca. 6th to 8th century CE. Ancient Judeo-Aramaic terracotta bowl with fine lines of inscription around the interior. Bowls like this example were traditionally buried under houses to catch demons and thus protect the house. Unusual example in that most examples spiraled to the center of the bowl; this example radiates to the center. Size: 5.25" W (13.3 cm)
