Claude Monet (French, 1840-1926) "Garden At Sainte-Adresse" Framed Art Print in Museum Quality Wood & Gilt Gold Frame - This piece is a framed print of the original "Garden At Sainte-Adresse" oil on canvas painting by world renowned painter and founder of the French Impressionist movement, Claude Monet. The piece depicts the resort town of Sainte-Adresse on the English Channel, near Le Havre, France, which Monet visited in the summer of 1867. It was there, in a garden with a view of Honfleur on the horizon, that he painted the scene, which combines smooth, traditionally rendered areas with sparkling passages of rapid brushwork, and spots of pure colour. It has been said that the models in the scene were probably Monet's father, Adolphe, seated in the foreground, his cousin Jeanne Marguerite Lecadre at the fence with her father Dr. Adolphe Lecadre, and Lecadre's other daughter, Sophie, the woman seated with her back to the viewer. The original painting is now in the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art, since an auction sale at Christie's in December 1967. The print has been professionally double matted, with a canvas colored primary matting and gold colored accent matting.
